De jour Designs ("of the day designs") was commenced by Keirann Parker, Mackay in October 2006 as the direct result of not being able to identify suitably affordable fashion jewellery within the area.
Keirann commenced designing and manufacturing fashion jewellery for family and friends. As a result client requests came flooding in.
De jour Designs were then requested to place commissioned items on displayed in various retail outlets within the Mackay area. As a result a client base register was formulated for special requests and occasions.
De jour Designs desire was to provide affordable fashion jewellery to everyone and then commenced Market attendances in Marian, Mackay, Airlie Beach and Moranbah.
In June 2007 De jour Designs was invited to appear at The Bridal Expo held at North Mackay Bowls Club - with outstanding results and client registers for wedding packages.
In July 2007 De jour Designs was invited to appear at the Walkerston Craft Weekend again with outstanding results and client orders.
In late 2008 the demands for Keirann's designs became too much to run from her home based studio and a suitable shop location was identified in Marian.
In August 2008 Dejour Designs opened at 20a Daly Street, Marian and was immediately welcomed by locals. Today Dejour Designs has in fact outgrown it's current location, however with the lack of suitable locations available we decided to expand with a tea garden extension commenced in October 2009. The Tea Garden is now up and running with some fabulously delicious treats. Childrens B'day parties are a welcome relief for the Valley. Group Bookings and workshops are welcome.
Workshop variety has trippled with outstanding attendances. Our school holiday workshop programs are booked well in advance offering mums & dads a well deserved break and fun for all.
New workshops are introduced each school holiday period.
Due to the overwhelming amount of orders and demands from customers additional staff came onto our team and now offer amazing workshops and talent within the team.
We currently attend Troppos and Moranbah markets each month and will continue to do so in the future.
Regretfully due to family commitments and injury Keirann can no longer work full time and has regretfully listed the Business for Sale. However, Keirann will continue with workshops on a part time basis if permitted.
Come and have a coffee and a chat with friends or ask staff to construct a workshop just for you or your friends.
In July 2010 we welcomed a new junior to our staff - Chloe who is full of enthusiasm and vibrancy.
During 2010 we have attended an increased number of regional Expo's and annual events with outstanding success.
We are continuing with our annual Mentoring program with Marian Primary school kids. This years project is hand made and hand painted ceramic pieces.
Keirann has also been requested to assist with local teenage self help programs. These programs allow teenagers to ecpress themselves through art and craft and to build their self esteem. These programs are co ordinated through local support groups within Mackay.
Keirann's vision is to relocate the shop back to her hill side home gallery in December 2010 if the business remains unsold to enable her to be based at home. It is envisaged that a tea house will be positioned on her large timber verandah with exceptional views overlooking Marian and the Pioneer Valley. Guests can view a range of selected arts & crafts within the home gallery.
