De jour Designs hosted Marian's first ever Art & Craft Expo

on Saturday 9th May 10 - 3 pm & Sunday 10 May 9 - 5pm in 2009.

Special Expo Feature Workshop was the

DIDGERIDOO WORKSHOP

 

A number of keen kids and adults learnt how to make, paint & play their very own didgeridoo over a 2 day workshop.  The kids challenged the older men to a race and did very well.  Most completed their didgeridoos and learnt to play from an expert didgeridoo instructor. Enormous time and effort went into locating and collecting of specific trees utilised for this exhilerating workshop. Charge was $200ea.

 

Local Art & Craft were on exhibition and for sale with most exhibitors recording higher than expected sales and interest.

Workshops held by exhibitors included Candle wicking, Tye dying, Digital Storybooks, Beading, Candle making, Fabric Heat Dying, Patchwork and many more.

Mums were encouraged to have a cuppa and a freshly made mars bar cheesecake, meusli slice, plate of sandwiches or a healthy wrap whilst at the Expo. Water and Softdrinks were also available for purchase.

 

We wish to forward a special mention to Jodie who catered for the Expo especially her own mars bar cheesecake which was an overall winner throughout the weekend.

Kids and mums had some fun while A number of families took the opportunity to experience a painting workshop together.  

We are proud to announce that the Expo was a resounding success with attendies advising that they were astonished at the variety of exhibitors present and expressed hope that we would be making the Expo an annual event.

We are unsure which way to approach an Expo in 2010, however at least we will have ample time to replan.

Enquire about out Patchwork Competition scheduled for 2010 Expo.  THE QUILT OFF - 4 teams of 2 people to complete main inner panel piece for quilt to required size.  Teams can only pre wash materials, not cut them.  All equipment must be supplied by teams.  Teams will be judged on originality of design, technique, quality etc.  First Prize $100, Second Prize $50.  Team keeps the finished item.

Entry is only $5 (includes powered site) Free lunch, tea & coffee for team members.
